NATURAL BUILDING (COBIN WORKSHOP)
Course will be from May 22 - 30.
Our natural building course offers you hands on experience working with cob to create a small habitable structure. We will be working to create a 120 square foot Cobin from the ground up. You will learn site prep, foundation construction, post and beam framing, cob mixture and preparation, earthen flooring and other skills to give you the confidence to build your own cob infill structure from the ground up.
NATURAL BUILDING (STRAW BALE)
Course will be from May 30 - June 6
The Straw Bale Construction workshop will provide an opportunity to get hands on experience in every aspect of construction for building a code compliant structure. The structure being built will be of post and beam construction with straw bale infill. This course we will review and demonstrate the requirements of the California building and Residential codes for compliant construction of straw bale structures. Participants will have the opportunity to learn every level of construction from foundation to walls to roof.
PERMACULTURE DESIGN
Course will be from May 23 - June 6

In this track you will receive your 72- hour Permaculture Design Certification (PDC). The track include both hands on and (outdoor) classroom instruction, taught by Matthew Trumm, founder of Treetop Permaculture and Camp Fire Restoration Project. Students will have the opportunity to learn about water management systems, land design, use of zones to organize a property, restoring ecology with a focus on fire recovery, and many other topics.
